Stacking LogisVert, Rénoclimat and Chauffez vert: maximize Quebec renovation rebates
In Quebec, three major renovation rebates cover different portions of an energy retrofit. Hydro-Québec's LogisVert funds the mechanicals (heat pump, efficient water heater), the province's Rénoclimat funds the envelope (insulation, air sealing, windows), and Chauffez vert funds the switch away from oil or propane to electric heating. The three programs are designed to dovetail in a single project, and stacking them is the standard playbook for a comprehensive Quebec retrofit. Coordinating them in the right order is what separates a full payout from a refused application.
Who should stack the three programs
The profile that benefits most is the homeowner of an existing home currently heated with oil or propane, who wants to replace the heating system with a heat pump and improve the envelope at the same time. That single project activates all three programs in the same work phase.
The second typical profile: owner of an all-electric home that is poorly insulated, who adds a ductless heat pump while taking the opportunity to blow attic insulation. In that case Chauffez vert does not apply (no oil to replace), but LogisVert and Rénoclimat still stack.
Condo owners can also stack: each owner applies for their share separately. Collective envelope work fits Rénoclimat well, while individual mechanical changes fall under LogisVert. For the full catalogue of rebates available in Quebec, see our grant programs page.

How to apply for all three
The sequence matters. Here is the order that works for most projects.
- Book an EnerGuide pre-assessment to open Rénoclimat. This first step is non-negotiable because no Rénoclimat work can be paid without a baseline. For the details, see our Rénoclimat guide.
- Get quotes from Hydro-Québec recognized installers for the heat pump (and the water heater if it is replaced at the same time). Ideally the same renovation contractor handles LogisVert and Chauffez vert.
- If applicable, file the Chauffez vert claim before removing the oil or propane system. The program requires proof of replacement by a 100% electric system.
- Complete the work (envelope and mechanicals) in a single phase or two short phases.
- EnerGuide post-assessment once the envelope is finished. The final report triggers the Rénoclimat payment.
- Submit the LogisVert claim through your Hydro-Québec customer portal after the heat pump is installed.

What work is covered (and who covers what)
The three programs split the work by category, which lets you stack without overlap.
LogisVert (Hydro-Québec) funds the mechanicals: central heat pump, ductless heat pump (mini-split), geothermal heat pump, efficient water heater, plus a few complementary insulation and airtightness streams.
Rénoclimat (Quebec government) funds the envelope: attic, wall, basement, and exposed floor insulation; air sealing; ENERGY STAR-eligible doors and windows; some exposed foundation work. The full breakdown is in our Rénoclimat guide.
Chauffez vert (Quebec government) funds the fuel exit: replacement of a central oil or propane system with an eligible electric system. A heat pump replacing an oil furnace activates both Chauffez vert (for leaving the fossil fuel behind) and LogisVert (for the new mechanicals).
A few overlap zones exist and are designed to work together. Attic insulation, for example, can be eligible under a LogisVert stream or under Rénoclimat depending on the project: the energy advisor helps direct the claim to the right one.

Mistakes to avoid when stacking
Stacking three programs adds coordination overhead, and a few mistakes are specific to this kind of project.
- Starting work before the EnerGuide pre-assessment. Without a baseline, Rénoclimat is dead. The other two programs can still go ahead, but a big share of the total help disappears.
- Hiring an installer with no experience of all three programs. Many heat pump specialists do not know the Chauffez vert side or the Rénoclimat requirements. Ask explicitly before signing.
- Filing Chauffez vert after removing the oil system without keeping proof. You need to document the removal: serial number of the old system, removal invoice, and the empty-tank certificate photo.
- Ignoring the Rénoclimat window between pre- and post-assessment. For an envelope and mechanicals project, plan a schedule that respects this window while leaving time for coordination.
- Assuming the three rebates add up to their headline maximums. The combined total depends on the project and on the measured energy gains. For current amounts, check each program through the grant programs page.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have to file separately for each program?
Yes, each of the three programs has its own channel: LogisVert goes through the Hydro-Québec customer portal, Rénoclimat through the provincial portal via an energy advisor, and Chauffez vert through the same provincial portal but on a separate form. There is no single-window application at the time of writing. An experienced contractor can help manage all three in parallel.
In what order should you do them?
The EnerGuide pre-assessment (for Rénoclimat) comes first, because it has to precede the work. Then the Chauffez vert claim before removing the oil system. The LogisVert claim is filed after the new heat pump is installed. The EnerGuide post-assessment closes the loop for Rénoclimat and triggers payment.
Can claiming one program get you refused on another?
No, the three programs are designed to stack within a single project. The real risk comes from poor date coordination (for example, starting work before the Rénoclimat pre-assessment) or an incomplete file on the oil system removal for Chauffez vert.
What is the theoretical maximum total?
The combined total depends on the project type (oil exit, heat pump, and full insulation is the maximum scenario) and on the measured energy gains. No combined amount is guaranteed up front, each program calculates its own payment at the end. For the current amounts, check each program through the Zone Réno hub.
