How long does a shingle roof last?
Twenty-five to thirty years for a well-ventilated architectural shingle. Attic ventilation matters as much as the shingle itself.
Metal or shingle?
Metal costs about twice as much and lasts twice as long. For a cottage or a home you are keeping, it often makes sense. We give you both prices.
Do you remove the old roof?
Always. Laying over hides plywood problems and voids the manufacturer warranty.
When should a roof be replaced?
Curling shingles, granules in the gutters, stains on the ceiling. Otherwise, a free inspection every five years is enough.
